Unfortunately my hair does not like this gel. I really wanted to like it.

The Royal Root Curl Gel (RRCG) works perfect for my hair, I have short natural Afro hair, instead of putting chemicals in my hair to create the curls RRCG defines my curls and it doesn’t flakes compare to other brands. I’m satisfied with my purchase and I’m a big fan of your hair products.
I love retro rich products on my 4b hair but this gel was such a disappointment for me :( I was so excited to add it to my wash day but the leave in mixed with this left white flakes alll over my hair. i tried it without the leave in and had the same problem, i assumed the products would all work together? i don’t think this is for my hair type unfortunately x
The challenge for every curly girl is the gel. You may find one that looks great on day 1 but flakes by day 2. Maybe it doesn’t flake, but when the sun hits the hair just right you can see what looks like dust coming off you hair. Maybe it layers well with one product line but not another, too much crunch, not enough crunch, UGH! I’ve settled on Uncle Funky’s Daughter now for 4 years. I love it but Iif I have somewhere special to be, I better do my hair 3 days before the event because the hold is real!
I got the RR gel a few days ago. I have high porosity hair so with any styling product, I make sure to apply on wet hair. It layered well with Innersense Sweet Spirit and I Create Volume, and that doesn’t surprise me considering the high quality and natural balance of all 3 products. The gel applied with sliip and as I distributed it through my hair, it dealt like my hair soaked it all up. However, I simply added more water and the slip immediately woke up again. After applying and sectioning in the shower, I finished my styling routine at the mirror. With each section, I did add just the slightest tiniest drop more of gel, just the sure I had enough. In hindsight, I could have done without. My curls were hydrated, shiny, bouncy with no stickiness from the gel. I was able to scrunch a little with no disturbing the curl clumps.
My hair dried quickly with diffusing, which was shocking considering how thick my 3c hair is. My results were beautiful. The following morning there was some crunch that EASILY scrunched out. I suspect that even if I didn’t scrunch, the crunch would have naturally left in a few hours. My curls were soft and had hold without a hard finish.
Long story short - my UFD might have to take a time out because there’s a new gel in my life. Well done!
